It seems like just a few days ago we sat down to write our annual note planning for the year ahead and reflecting on the year past, we never imagined with the string of successful years we have had that 2024 would be our best year yet which was capped off with a string of 5 wins from 6 starts including (our stables long sought after) win in the $500,000 New York Stallion Stallion Stakes!
After a the past 3 years brought us 20 wins from 96 starts (21%) and 56 finishes in the money (58%) and an average per start of $16,655 we were hard pressed to replicate the stables success. With your support we were able to bring a 2024 that brought 75 starts, 16 wins (21%) 35 finishes in the money (47%) and $1,275,000 of purse earnings bringing our average earnings per start just over $17,000.
At first glance those stats are quite impressive, but when we consider we are able to do that focused solely on New York bred fillies with a modest syndication price they rival any larger syndication out there !
While it is certainly fun to be interviewed on Fox Sports and have articles written about our success, what is never overlooked is how we got here and how we are able to do what we do year in and year out. Without the support of you, our partners, none of this would be possible. We know you all have many options out there in which to partner on horses, some bigger some newer and we truly appreciate you choose to be part of our Family - a family that added a new little member, Piper, who has already had more winner circle photos than any other 8 month old out there (and quite possibly more than any other 80 year old as well)
It is truly heartwarming when we reflect that what we have built here at Final Furlong reaches beyond the stretches of the track and the family that continues to grow consistently adds great people from all walks of life. There is nothing more special than being able to get to know each of you and are honored to call you not only partners, but family.
We love nothing more than receiving calls about things outside of racing, hearing about your individual families, successes and the rare unfortunate circumstances. It really hit home when we were told by one of your partners that this year during Venti Valentine’s win in the Empire Distaff (a win that capped her amazing career) they were watching in the car and had to pull over because they were overwhelmed with tears. We understand that we all have things going on in our lives day after day, and we are so happy these majestic animals are able to bring us all a moment of care free joy.
We always say life is made up of memories and things to look forward to - we hope that 2024 was filled with wonderful memories on and off the track and hope 2025 brings you all a host of anticipation that only leads to good memories!
