Again, we have quite a year to reflect on and much to look forward to in 2026! This year started off strong, January brought us 100% in the money and a win in early February. The excitement of winter racing didn’t fade as we had more Black type earnings and built off a strong ‘24 where we saw nearly 50% of our horses finish in the money!
While the races brought us much success and happy times, we are saddened to report the parter we wrote about here 2 years ago, Alex, lost his battle with his condition and will only be with us in spirit at the track going forward.
It is certainly unfortunate to not have him with us anymore, but it makes us again so thankful for what we have built over the past 13+ years together. Without this common bond of the majestic horse, we would have never had the opportunity to even know Alex or his wonderful wife Lauren, or any of you reading this today.
While the excitement & high of a win really has no comparison, in relative short order that excitement fades and we find ourselves looking forward to recreate that feeling, every time we walk in the paddock - whether it be at beautiful Saratoga or “beautiful” Aqueduct, seeing each of you always gives us that winning feeling. Seeing partners talking about more than just the race, really getting to know you and your families and you ours is what makes Final Furlong beautiful. It truly is a family that we are so honored to be part of.
While 2026 will bring some major changes to the sport - the long awaited Belmont will open, Saratoga will for the last time (although we think they should maybe have a special popup every now and then) the Belmont at Saratoga, and we will begin to look forward to the Breeders cup heading back to NY - we will remain focused on what we have come to know best, bringing you all the top quality New York Bred Fillies and staying consistent amongst the change.
So as we close a chapter on another record year and look forward to what could be our strongest crop of fillies yet, we never lose sight of the fact that our growing family is what makes Final Furlong so special - its not the wins or the % of races we finish in the money its the relationships we all make together thanks to our common bond.
Thank you all for allowing us to do what we love.
Happy New Year!
All the best
Dan & Vince
And just a little something to make you smile, as if we weren’t busy enough with horses and kids, Santa delivered “Dasher” straight from the North Pole to Vince’s family - He can’t wait to make it to the barns this summer and meet all of you ! : ) - We haven’t set his stud fee yet …
