Join the ambitious Final Furlong Team today!!
We offer the industries most affordable racing partnerships and compete at the highest levels of thoroughbred racing on the New York Racing Circuit...

Final Furlong Racing Stable (FFRS) was started in August 2009 by Managing Partners, Dan Zanatta and Vince Roth.
Dan and Vince met in 2005 while working together at Merrill Lynch in New York.
Dan and Vince have owned horses for over eight years racing in New York, Kentucky, Florida and Virginia.

Dan and Vince believe finding the right partners is one of the keys for a race horse’s success.

It has been our experience that finding partners who want to do the right thing for their horses and understand the risks and economics of horse racing is integral.  We look to establish long lasting relationships with all of our partners and are always willing to talk to them about any current or potential opportunity.

Our Philosophy:

FFRS focuses on acquiring unraced New York bred yearlings and two year olds.  We believe NY breds offer the most value as racing prospects due to the lucrative NY bred incentive programs and limited number of foals that qualify to race in NY bred restricted races.  The New York Racing Association (NYRA) writes over 600 condition races each year and 45 stake races with total purses exceeding $4 million for registered NY breds.  In addition to the restricted NY bred races written each year at Belmont, Aqueduct, Saratoga and the Finger Lakes, less than 2,000 NY bred foals are born each year versus the 10,000 Kentucky foals born annually and 4,000 Florida foals hitting the ground each year.  The concentrated competition among NY breds makes it even more attractive to build a stable of NY bred runners.

The Final Furlong team, made up of breeders, bloodstock agents and several trainers, starts the selection process during a horse’s yearling year.  We visit farms in New York and attend auctions featuring a large selection on NY bred stock.  We analyze the pedigrees of each horse we consider looking for proven matting patterns found of successful race horses.  You will notice that Final Furlong typically purchases fillies and colts by prominent Kentucky sires.  We believe that NY breds by KY sires offer the best value.  A horse’s conformation is carefully scrutinized and evaluated by our team prior to its acquisition.  We also attempt to determine the competitiveness of a horse as a yearling by watching them move and interact with other horses in the pasture.

Training Process:

After a horse is acquired, the FFRS team discusses where the prospect should be sent to be broken and trained.  Normally, our horses are sent to train on farms in Virginia or Florida during November of their yearling career.  The prospects remain on the farm for about 8 to 10 months and then ship to NY to start their racing career.
